How a project goes?
Understanding.
Before I draw anything I spend time in the house and with you. I want to know what mornings look like, who cooks, where you gather evenings, which window you look out of most. The design comes out of these answers.
The design.
First a concept, so we agree on the direction before the detail. Then plans and elevations, every material and finish, every fixture and light, with quantities and lead times, so a contractor can build it without guessing. At the end of each stage you approve it by email. That is what keeps the project from drifting. One round of changes is included at each stage; more is always possible, and I will tell you before it costs anything.
Building it.
I can arrange a contractor for you or work with your contractor. We go through the drawings together before we start the built, I answer questions as they come up, and I check the work against what was designed. You have me by phone or email throughout and on scheduled video or phone calls for six months after the package is delivered.
Living in it.
When the last piece is in place I photograph the rooms and put together a printed book of the project: the drawings, the selections, and the reasons behind them, so the house comes with its own record. A few months after you move in, once the rooms have been used for a while, I offer to come back for an hour. Rooms get used differently than anyone planned, and a small adjustment then, a lamp moved or a shelf that turns out to be in the wrong place, is easy to make. That optional hour is part of the project, at no extra cost.
